Kids Mardi Gras

The Magic Johnson Foundation is committed to providing underprivileged youth with exciting opportunities and memorable moments. Since its inception in 1997, Kid’s Mardi Gras has grown from approximately 500 children to 2000 in 2008.

Planned activities for the children include: carnival rides, face painting, game booths, autograph sessions with well-known celebrities and live entertainment performances on stage. The kids also receive a delicious lunch, ice cream, prizes, T-shirts, gift bags and more. Earvin Johnson brings his “Magic” to the community as he shares this day with the children, participating fully in all of the activities with them.

Due to its size and popularity, this event is private and unpublicized to help maintain the focus on the children. Each year, on a rotating basis, different community organizations are invited so that all children have the opportunity to participate in an experience that will create memories that last a lifetime.
